Privacy

This site is a set of price tables. Reading it requires no account, and it is built so that reading it leaves almost nothing behind. This page says exactly what is stored, by whom, and for how long.

If you only read the site

Nothing is stored about you, and nothing is loaded from anyone else.CostCheckup runs no analytics, no advertising tags, no session recording, no heatmaps, and no third-party scripts of any kind. Fonts, images and scripts are served from this site itself, so no other company learns that you visited, which page you opened, or how long you stayed.

There is no cookie banner on this site because reading it sets no cookies.

Our host, Cloudflare, processes requests to deliver the site and keeps operational logs of the kind every web host keeps. That is infrastructure we do not control the existence of, only what we ask it for, and we ask it for no analytics product.

When you click through to a company

Every price on this site links to the company's own page, and those links are ordinary links. When you follow one you are on that company's site under their privacy policy, not ours, and they will see the visit the way they see any visitor. We do not pass them anything about you, because we have nothing to pass.

If you submit a price report

Submitting is optional, no account is ever required, and every field except which offer you are describing may be left blank.

• What we store: the offer you named, the amounts you entered, the month they describe, your answer to whether you would sign up again, and your email address if you gave one.
• What we publish: never your individual report. Figures appear only as a median across several independent reports, with the number of reports stated. Your email address is never published, never shown beside a figure, never sold, and never shared. It is not even copied into the site's build: the process that reads approved reports selects a fixed list of columns that does not include it.
• Why we ask for email at all: so we can ask you one follow-up question if a figure is unclear. That is its only use.
• One cookie. Submitting sets a first-party cookie holding a random identifier. It exists so that submitting twice about the same offer replaces your earlier report instead of counting you twice. It is not readable by scripts, is never sent to anyone else, and identifies a browser to this site's own database and to nothing else.
• Your address is not stored for rate limiting. To stop one person flooding the form we count submissions per network address. The address itself is never written down: it is combined with a secret and hashed, and only the hash and a counter are stored. Those counters expire within two days.
• Review. A person reads every report before it counts toward anything. Reports we do not use are kept rather than deleted, with a note recording why, so that a later question about a published figure can be answered honestly.

If you ask to be told when a price changes

We store your email address and which offer you asked about. Nothing else. To be plain about it, the alerts are not sending yet; the address is held so that you are on the list when they are. When they do run, each message will carry a one-click unsubscribe, and the address will be used for that one purpose and no other.

What we never do

• We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone.
• We do not build advertising profiles or run retargeting.
• We do not ask for your name, address, date of birth, or any identifier beyond an optional email.
• We do not ask for medical information, and please do not send any. This site collects prices. A price report is a fact about a transaction, and we would rather have a blank field than a diagnosis.
• We do not accept document or image uploads of any kind.

Children

This site is for adults comparing the cost of care and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted something, tell us and we will delete it.

Asking what we hold, or asking us to delete it

You can ask for a copy of what is associated with your email address, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will do it. You do not need to be in any particular place or cite any particular law to ask, and we will not ask you to create an account to exercise a right you have without one.

If you never gave an email address, we have no way to find your report and no way to confirm it is yours, which is a consequence of not asking who you are rather than an evasion.

Changes to this page

When what the site does changes, this page changes with it, in the same revision. It describes current behaviour rather than intentions, and thecorrections policy covers it the same way it covers a wrong price: if something here is inaccurate, that is an error to report and fix.
